Our Story

Politicized News was born in Spring of 2018 out of a realization that the status quo in American politics was unacceptable. Thanasi Dilos, then a high school sophomore from New York City, felt that the amount of partisanship, misinformation, and hatred being spread around was doing great harm to our political system, and set out to find a way to change it. He founded Politicized News on a hope, originally planning to use it to try and spread the truth about events happening American politics. He started writing articles by himself, trying to educate his small group of followers on what was happening in Washington, getting rid of the massive amount of partisan spin. It was clear that Politicized offered something that the old online media couldn’t match: Care for unbiased truth.

Politicized quickly gained 10,000 followers in a short span of a few months, and with that follower growth came evidence of something that had until now been largely ignored: Teenagers also care about the truth. Current Editor-In-Chief and longtime friend of Thanasi, Mateo Portelli, then also a high school sophomore from Las Vegas, joined in the Summer of 2018. Dedicated to offering a platform for clear-cut facts to flourish, coupled with his passion for cultivating substantive and productive discussion rather than ideological shouting matches, Mateo helped ensure a steady stream of non-partisan, factually correct articles that would be distributed to tens of thousands on social media and our website.

Since then, Politicized News has striven to cooperate with numerous persons and organizations dedicated to journalistic integrity and political engagement of youth. Politicized has seeked to recruit competent and passionate writers across the globe and political spectrum, currently having a content contributors who produce daily content that cover domestic policy, foreign affairs, business, and election news. Proudly boasting a readership of over 39,000, over 26,000 of which are young adults, Politicized is dedicated to fostering a political culture of dedication and allegiance to fervor for facts, passion for progress, and pursuit of Truth.
